If you haven't already, try Komoot today to plan your route, checkpoints and waypoints will be confirmed for the 2023 event in due course.
From start to finish the checkpoints and waypoints you'll have to navigate on your two wheels will take you as close to the coast as possible and through 15 counties of this beautiful country. This is a free route ride so you decide how to get to each checkpoint via the waypoints.
The Checkpoints, sponsored by Komoot, are roughly spaced out along the 1,000km (or more), at every one you will need take a timestamped and geo located photo. Each checkpoint will be near a coffee shop(ish) and most checkpoints are near a bike shop. When taking your photo and then stamping with the time and location, you can upload these straight to Instagram and tag @abikerace ( and also #abikerace) or upload them all at the end of the day it is up to you. When uploading your rides to Strava please add your time and location stamped photos too. Say cheese!!!
Obviously you don't have to stop for long at checkpoints, take a photo, grab a coffee and off you go if you're fighting for that podium. Send it!!!
We use the app DateStamper on our iPhone, try it out to date and location stamp your images.
THE WAYPOINTS
IN-BETWEEN
The waypoints are what make this route, you'll know the checkpoints but won't have a clue where you have to go in-between until the waypoint locations are revealed a few days before the event.
Waypoints will be landmarks, buildings, views and sights, exact coordinates will be online and a time and location stamped photo is required at each of these points. Ideally we want your bike or you or both in the photo too, get practicing those selfies. Cheese!
